Maggio Kattar Shareholder Attorney,Elizabeth Quinn to share her expertise on EB-2  National Interest Waivers and Matter of Dhanasar with members of the DC Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) on November 8, 2017 .

In late 2016, the Administrative Appeals Office (AAO) of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) issued a precedent decision, Matter of Dhanasar, 26 I&N Dec. 884 (AAO 2016). With this decision, the AAO announced a new standard for deciding “national interest” green card cases, one that may provide more clarity, flexibility and be more useful to certain individuals including entrepreneurs. Those who meet the new standard can seek permanent residence based upon a self-petition, without needing a U.S. employer-sponsor. This immigrant visa/green card category is particularly helpful to entrepreneurs, artists and those who are traditionally self-employed.
