I-9 Compliance
U.S. immigration law requires all employers to complete and
maintain an I-9, Employer Verification Eligibility, form for each U.S. employee
hired on or after November 6, 1986. An employer must complete the Form I-9
every time it hires any person to perform labor or services in return for wages
or other remuneration. To comply with the law, an employer must verify the
identity and employment eligibility of each person hired, complete and retain
the Form I-9 for each employee, and refrain from discriminating against
individuals on the basis of national origin or citizenship.
