On September 3, the Department of Homeland Security announced that they would designate Yemen for Temporary Protected Status ( TPS) due to the ongoing conflict in that country that would pose a serious risk to personal safety for Yemen nationals, currently residing in the U.S., should they return. This designation means that eligible Yemen nationals, who also satisfy both physical presence and security check requirements, can apply for TPS benefits and can then stay and work in the United States through the designation period. This status is in effect through March 3, 2017. Click here for more information from USCIS.
