Margaret "Meg" Hobbins focuses her practice on representing clients in removal proceedings before the immigration courts, the Board of Immigration Appeals and federal courts. Meg has extensive experience representing individuals detained by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) as well as expertise in asylum and refugee law. Meg also represents clients in other general family based and humanitarian immigration matters.
Meg is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and Capital Area Immigrants' Rights Coalition (CAIR Coalition). She was honored by CAIR Coalition at their ten year anniversary event for her on-going volunteer service and commitment. Meg also served on the board of the Maryland Immigrant Rights Coalition (MIRC). Prior to joining Maggio + Kattar, Meg worked as a staff attorney for the Pennsylvania Immigration Resource Center and was a law clerk in the Attorney General's Honors Program at the Baltimore and York Immigration Courts.
Meg has a Juris Doctor magna cum laude from The American University's Washington College of Law. At American University, she received a Dean's Award for her representation of immigrants as a student attorney for the American University International Human Rights Law Clinic. Before attending law school, she served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Togo and worked with asylum-seekers in Sydney, Australia. Meg is fluent in French and proficient in Spanish.
Meg limits her practice to federal immigration matters and is admitted to practice in Maryland.
