Margaret "Meg" Hobbins focuses her practice on humanitarian and family based immigration matters before the U.S. immigration courts, the Board of Immigration Appeals, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), and U.S. Consulates overseas.  Meg has extensive experience representing individuals detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) as well as expertise in asylum law, waivers of inadmissibility, immigration consequences of criminal convictions, and complex naturalization and adjustment of status cases.  Meg has also represented numerous clients in challenging the constitutionality of their apprehension by ICE agents.

Meg is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and serves on the AILA National Family Immigration Committee.  She is also a member of the Capital Area Immigrants' Rights (CAIR) Coalition and was honored at the organization’s ten year anniversary event for her volunteer service and commitment.  Meg served on the board of the Maryland Immigrant Rights Coalition (MIRC) and on the AILA DC Chapter Raids Response Committee. 

Prior to joining Maggio + Kattar, Meg worked as a staff attorney for the Pennsylvania Immigration Resource Center and was a judicial law clerk in the Attorney General's Honors Program at the Baltimore and York Immigration Courts. 

Meg has a Juris Doctor magna cum laude from The American University's Washington College of Law.  At American University, she received a Dean's Award for her representation of immigrants as a student attorney for the International Human Rights Law Clinic. Before attending law school, she served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Togo and worked with asylum-seekers in Sydney, Australia.  Meg is fluent in French and proficient in Spanish.

Meg is admitted to practice in Maryland and the District of Columbia.
